In an inauguration weekend sermon that flouts political correctness, Bishop Phil Thomas of Highview Christian Fellowship says Obama won't save us, but he will succeed the same way we will--by lining up with the will of God and taking personal responsibility for the economy and for a fresh dialogue on race.

  • uncle bishop! go!

  • I love him he's my Pastor

  • "I love this man!

Personal responsibility is a tough message but it's the only one that brings about the kind of change that makes for a better future. This bishop is calling us all to grow up and create our own lives. And it looks like his church is having a good time in the process.

  • Well in that case I fully understand. Yeah that could hurt :-)

  • I trust what you are saying is true. Still, I'd like to read it rather than hear it. Just my way. I have sensitive ears.

  • David, that's not how the whole things is conveyed. That is just a snippet. There is a quiet and calm time. He's just passionate and wants people to GET IT.

You should come and visit. You'd be surprised at how you can laugh out loud, literally and learn some things that actually DO work in everyday life and on the job. Amazing. Good stuff.

  • His main points are obviously true (and refreshing to hear?), but I would

never go to a church like that because of the tone--I feel like I'm being

yelled at for something I didn't do. He is funny though! :)

  • Bring me the WORD in reality so that I can use it. That's what this is and it is much appreciated and refreshing.

  • He sure is entertaining to watch!

The religion itself isn't my cup of tea, but it's still refreshing to see a call to personal responsibility and interfaith dialogue being issued.

  • I don't know if what he says in this video could be more true; especially beginning at 5 minutes into the video. It's well past time that we all understood this.
