Do you prefer tallow to lard?
-
When I render my lard for cooking I just put the fat it into a pot over low heat. It melts and then when it stops bubbling the water is gone and I run it though a coffee filter. Would this process work for beef fat too? It leaves yummy pork bits, but I don't think beef would be as tasty.

I'm a little confused. You say on your website that you use no animal products.... but you are using suet? Not that I mind or anything I'm surely not a vegan but... what makes this not using an animal product?

@yukipillows this is for my own personal soap, not my other soaps

Just wondering, do you need to grind it down in the food processor first, since it's going to melt anyway? I might try this but I don't have a food processor or blender.

@ashleyandlee No, but it helps you get a higher yield, and helps it go faster.

@mylittleredpanda Yah, I forgot to mention that, I use 1 tablespoon per cup of ground suet.
