10 years ago winter backpacking meant a 30 to 50 pound bag.

what trails did you use? where did you start?

We did two nights out. We started at White Grass, hiked up a XC ski trail to FS 80, then went north to the Dobbin Trail. Took Dobbin to Upper Red Creek, then East a bit on Blackbird to get to Red Creek Trail. From there we took Breathed Mtn trail, but we lost it and ended up camping who knows where. We knew generally where we were, and used a topo map and compass to come out right where we started (luckily).
