This is the ONLY glass cutting method that cuts bottles perfect every time. A flaming string is not good. A blow torch is a BAD IDEA. Glass hammer will not work well.

I talked to a few people who have cut 1000's of bottles, they say "you cannot get a perfect cut, top will always be ruined" Not true. Perfect bottle cutting 95% of the time.

I'm stunned that this totally worked. If anyone, like me, didn't see any success with water that was hot, but still cool enough to touch (like the video), mine finally cracked when I boiled water in a pan and dunked the glass 3-4 times between that and a tall enough glass of ice water. However I did not get a clean, flat edge at all and got large jagged edges instead on all three bottles I tried. Tips? Was it my score line or the boiling water or something else?

This works best with temperature extremes. If you are having jagged edges and or no separation do the following:

Score bottle, place in the freezer for 5 minutes, drip boiling water (drops only) on the scoreline and work the crack that develops with the drops of hot water.

Ok, I've seen this guy do too much cool stuff. Waaaay cooler than any other "home improvement" guy in the past (think Bob Villa, etc). Where can I order some T-shirts? Go Dan Rojas!

I have tried both what this video said and what you just said but neither are working. Have any other tips?

I also would like to know how to cut an old milk bottle. This is basically square with rounded edges. Would I need a different type cutter?

I am very impressed with both your video and the web site. Thanks for answering my google question.

I'm wondering how well this would work on a rectangular whiskey bottle. I have a handful of whiskey bottles I want to cut the bottoms off of.
