A video slideshow of the restoration of our 1973 Mustang, named Eleanor (after the Eleanor in the 1974 Gone In 60 Seconds movie). There's a bigger finished photo here on our website http://www.gear4gearheads.biz/60eleanor.html

  • Great inspiration. Definetly alot of work, but a labor of love to. I've always really liked the original Gone in 60 Seconds, and the original Eleanor.

Still planing to eventually build my own Eleanor tribute car. With minor changes to suit my tastes. Being, likely a 4spd manual, possibly a 429, and though stock appearing, she'll have lot of internal improvements.

Do you have other clips of your car????

  • @SixSpeedSS Sorry for the late reply! No, no other clips right now. Hopefully we'll have some good rain and wash the salt off the roads and we can get a video of her on the move.

  • Ohh, yeah up north seems to just eat away at cars, but my 1966 mustang has been here in north carolina all of its life so its not too bad on rust, just the usual places. So how did you go about fixing the frame rail rust up in the front of the car?

  • The frame rails extend out past the end of the actual rail on the 73 for bumper support/attachment. We cut off the putside, had someone fab up new extensions and welded them on, after we drilled new holes and added nuts on the inside to use to support the bumper.

  • Wow, nice car, but i have to say that, that "Barn" must of had one leaky roof because that mustang sure did have alot of rust on her. Even my 66 Mustang that im restoring doesn't have that much, and its been sitting outside in the weather for 20yrs! But anyway, you did a really nice job on the restoration.

  • Thanks! She wasn't in the barn more than I year I don't think. The main cause of the rust was that she was a daily driver in the beginning in New York. When we took out the carpet, we found crystalized salt deposits!
