@terrachan to them is not the definition of diverse and it should never be. It is the CORRUPTION of the word, if anything. Singling out one particular race teaches children that don't have a month devoted to their race's significance implies to them that their race isn't special enough. The effects of such a month on children are harmful, and I am one to testify to this. (White guilt anyone?) We can symbolize our togetherness in the US to children by not excluding a race from others.
@terrachan Literature which were authored by blacks. Some were about enduring slavery of which they wrote about later on, those were the most memorable because they were stories about suffering and overcoming. A concept of which all races can relate to. The idea that black recognition would not be touched upon if we didn't have a month to remind us to talk about blacks is just rubbish. You are right diversity makes America great, but picking out one particular race to devote an entire month cont
Okay first off, it's a relief to see a black man recognizing what she is ACTUALLY saying and not saying "u iz racist!!" like I've seen in other comments/response videos. What you're saying about text books not recognizing accomplishments by blacks in American history aside from black history month is absurdly false. That might have been true when YOU were in grammar school, but it is most definitely not the case nowadays. I remember reading through many forms of revolutionary forms of lit. cont
@datjerseychick *names* gringo, cracker, white bread, whitey, honky, ghostie, clan-man, *statments* you won't understand you're white, only blame me cause i'm not white like you, only think you can do it cause you're white, you don't belong here whitey, you can't (rap, dance, jump, run) cause you're white, all whites are racist, you don't like me cause you're racist, i didn't get the job (fired) cause s/he's a racist prick. no caucasians never judged for being white
I agree with you. I don't think she meant anything racist by it and I'm glad that you acknowledge that. She is young and maybe she didn't realize that those months are not about RACE but are about those people finally getting the equal rights that they deserved.
