  • A pity Ms Sutherland cannot teach Ms Netrebko to sing this part anymore

  • @AustrianAdrian She left dozens of recordings though, throughout her entire career of this great role - Netrebko if she wanted to study she could very well listen to them more often :)

  • @AustrianAdrian lol - MS Netrebko is a fine singer in her own right - she just can't sing this role, NOBODY can teach her to sing this role - lust like one can't squeeze orange juice out of an apple (nothing wrong with apples or oranges) ... somebody should teach the that maybe - one would see it as a simple realisation, but she obviously can't come to it herself

  • This is a piece of anthology. All of the singers are the best in his roles, Kraus, Sutherland, Pablo Elvira, Plishka. I met almost all of them, shake hands and listened to their perfect voices and perfect singing. except Sutherland. Thank you God for giving me healthy ears, music aducation, and a heart capable to feel deep emotion caused by such magnificent performances......... MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MUSIC LOVERS..

  • This is a great emotion charge Lucia with the great Sutherland not the faceless Lucia of Netrebko...This was when singers sang and didn't cater to busy directors from Broadway who direct like they never heard the music before....and before HD didn't turn this into a glamor show of closeups........Thank you Joan Sutherland..

  • @Drelnis

  • quanto verdi si intravede in questo sestetto

  • I have said this for quite some time & I'll say it 1000 times over if necessary: Dame Joan Sutherland is the greatest female singer who has ever lived.

  • @vorspiel1023 If you listen to Joan Sutherland's recordings up to about 1965 or 1966, you will hear not only that clear, beautiful sound and pinpoint intonation, but also clean, clear diction. However, in the 1/28/1967 Met broadcast of DON GIOVANNI (conducted by Bohm), hers is the one performance in the cast in which the Italian is completely unintelligble (but her singing IS good). And so it would be for most of her performances, live and studio, thereafter, sadly.....

  • @CaptFitzbattleaxe Kraus did take the D - Flat, he was a master.
