Eschede

3. Juni 1998. ICE-Unglück in Eschede. Als erstes Fernsehteam - per Zufall - am Ort der Katastrophe. Zu spät, um zu helfen, zu früh, um nicht vom Entsetzen gepackt zu sein. Es gibt Fernsehbilder und Bilder, die in einem sind, die keiner der Beteiligten vergisst. Eine Woche nach dem Unglück entstand das Gedicht, das dem Film die Struktur gibt.

June 3, 1998. A high-speed ICE train derails in Eschede, smashing against a bridge. The first TV team to make it to the scene, by accident, gets there too late to help, but too soon not to be overwhelmed by the horror of the wreck. Some images, on TV and otherwise, grab you and never let you go. The poem which gives the film its narrative form was written a week after the crash.
