clean the connectors with a pencil eraser

This video is quite old, but, if the issue is not resolved or for others experiencing the problem.
Visit eiiiforum and search for "Button Cleaning"
I would try cleaning the button contacts before sending it in for repair. It is a very simple process.
This explains the process for an Emulator II. Same style of buttons on the SP. Worked well for me and I have replacement buttons. Now I can reserve them for when things really go wrong.
