Gold Coast Australia Dust Storm 23 September 2009

Surfers Paradise covered in dust. I Thought we had a nuclear winter and this was the fallout or it was the end of the world or maybe a meteor hit the earth.... nah just a dust storm

The dust has been blown into coastal areas from north western NSW as a result of a strong south westerly wind change and is expected to hang around until at least this evening.

A DUST storm that smothered Sydney in a bright red blanket of haze this morning has arrived on the Gold Coast, creating hazy conditions across the city.
Construction sites across the Gold Coast have been cleared and roadworks halted after workers were sent home because of low visibility and health concerns triggered by the dust storm.
The Q-Deck was shut at 12.30pm after witnesses described the view as though they were `floating in the clouds'.
In the Gold Coast hinterland it is near impossible to see the sun, with reports of a `blue moon'.
Powerlines have come down in Currumbin Valley, Mermaid Waters, Merrimac, Robina and Coomera.
A total of 550 Energex customers have been without power during the day.
I will say with these windy conditions, we'll see more outages during the day,'' he said.
Both Jetstar and Virgin Airlines cancelled overnight flights and delayed others.
Flights can take off from the Gold Coast Airport but arriving flights are being diverted to Brisbane and Sunshine Coast airports.

Lol Im a Skiier Not a snowboarder... :L the snowboarders are lethal these days.. they never look out for anyone and they fall over alot too hehe and crash into everyone :) I was throwing snowballs at them from the V8
