I love how the song name explains the story of the song. She's friends with her sister now, only because her mother disowned her when she found out about her sexual orientation.

Brad is indeed gay as well. They are both gay, and met in high school and probably connected over that and music of course too.

Cacie Dalager is an open lesbian.
The song is about a mother who finds out her daughter's a lesbian: "When your mother found it out, she took the phones out of the house" separating her and her girlfriend from contact: "And I've been sleeping on the couch until you'd call to wake me up, but not now..." How cute. They would call each other to say "good morning," but not anymore. So sad... And they run away. "But when we drive out of this town."
I love how the song builds up. Beautiful. :'(
