Pro Whalers attack NZ media at Pete Bethunes trial

It began as Sea Shepherd supporter Gary Thomason arrived. He told me earlier in the day that on this occasion he would not parade Sea Shepherd banners because he didn't want to draw attention to himself. Banner or not, there was no stopping the pro-whaling activists in drawing their attention to him.

They recognised Thomason and pointed him out to police as soon as he stepped out of a taxi. A group of at least 10 officers surrounded him. They tried to whisk him away but it was too late. Tempers flared and scuffles between protestors and police broke out along the pavement, spilling out onto the busy road.

When police removed Mr Thomason from the area, the pro-whaling protestors turned on the 3 News cameraman chasing him across a busy highway ripping the equipment out of his hands and kicking the camera battery down the street.

The ferocity with which the protestors attacked police and a 3 News cameraman would have landed them in a paddy wagon and charged with assault had they been in New Zealand. Here in Tokyo protestors appear to be given a long leash by police who tried to move the protestors back into an area sectioned off for their demonstration.

@Logicbeatslies IDK, but I have a Chinese friend in China who says that their government doesn't support Japan in the whaling issue. I think they are against Japan in the IWC. China is for Japan on the Blue Fin Tuna issue though

@rcc1111 I can only assume they get more complaints. Maybe China upset You Tube when Google pulled out of china, and were hacked. I'm only guessing, but maybe the IT is outsourced to India, and they are also looking after Japanese fisheries employees. I say that because no matter what they say or do, (inc hate speech 24/7, they never get banned)

@rcc1111 I'm in Australia, and when I said most Asians, I meant the ones I've met on you Tube, (mostly Australian) who in fact don't usually tell people they are Asian, because when they do, You Tube closes their accounts down.

And I don't exactly know what you mean by "most asians I know are abused for not siding against white people" Where do you live? Because here in America even most Asian people are siding with enviornmentalists in this whole issue.

@Logicbeatslies Well I've been called a terrorist before, but I think the word "terrorisim" is overly used. It kind of reminds me of the McCarthyism and Red Scare that I learnd in History class. Propogandists have learned to play on with peoples fears, so they use terrorism
