How about those electricity price controls in California in 2003? Oh, I'm sorry how forgetful of me. The proper term is "rate regulation"

So, I guess that's when I began to see potential wisdom behind laws such as what my father calls 'Obama's dictation of what we can and cannot drive', referring to taxes on poorly fuel efficient cars. I've even wondered how much lower gas prices would be if all vehicles were as fuel-efficient as each driver's needs demanded. Sure, not cut in half, but even a few cents off each gallon would go a long way. So, AlGore aside, I'm tired of eating peanut butter because I can barely afford gas.

Thing is, there was a hummer right in front of me. If it had been a decent MPG-car, I might have been able to fill-up and have enough gas to go to classes that week. Then I began to think, If EVERY sports car and needless SUV (I come from a family of 10, so I know that some NEED big cars) that came before me were fuel-efficient, then I KNOW that I would've been able to go to classes that week. But such is not the luxury-choosing way of Americans, so I was forced to stay home. Cont...

Good rebuttal, but not completely relevant. We are discussing laws, not your personal actions. Yes, one hummer would not even begin to make an impression on energy supply, but the dozens of hummers and tens of thousands of sports cars that I have seen with mine own eyes very well could. An example would be a time about a year ago that gas was being rationed here in the Southeast due to a hurricane closing down some oil refineries. When I had my turn at a gas pump, I took the last drop. Cont...

Its crazy. We are in an age where we can actually go into a class like this, yet have never been accepted nor even live near this university and the result is that people leave comments like, "How can this be 3 hours long?!!"
Unbelievable.
