I agree. As Marshall McLuhan said, the Medium is the Message.
This rendition is superior to the Nelson-Gardner verson of the original. Voices less harsh.

I think they sing without any expression

@f0r33ha oh, Hulu is not available where i come from. but i found a copy at a dvd store. i think they had a hard time making it into a movie, thats probably why it was weird. best as a play. thanks anyway :)

@icedandfrozen Hulu has it for free :) But I must warn you... it kinda sucks. It gets better in Act two though-- the beginning is incredibly stupid.

although the stage verision is uncomparable to the movie-- I must say that I enjoy the line read/emotion in the movie-- well atleast in this song, alot more.

I hate how they're so far apart throughout the entire song!

This play is so beautiful. It may ne funny but it is also kinda sad. I too have been trying to find the movie and hulu wont work for me
The ribbon around her wrist is where El Gallo grabbed her. It symbolizes her sexual attraction to the kind of man she holds as an ideal but would never settle for. Both she and Matt go in search of what they cannot have and this song is representative of growing up for both of them, as they realise they shouldn't chase ideals too fantastic and that they have loved each other all along. It's Romeo and Juliet with a happy ending

The movie cannot at all compare to the staged version.
