The former WMTW TV-8 transmitter building and Old Power House was destroyed by fire on February 9, 2003. This video serves as a tribute to the years of service and shelter the two buildings provided.
Waheedomar, This has been the transmitter site for TV channel 8 WMTW on Mt. Washington NH. Almost one year earlier Channel 8 had moved to it's city of license in Maine. The only power on the hill (there is an observatory up there) comes from channel 8's generators. If you do a search on "Yankee microwave" you can learn a lot more aboout this station and the fire.
Thats right. I had worked/lived there for about 6 years. I was there till WMTW moved off the summit. I also worked for Yankee Microwave before, during and after working on the Mountain. I shot the aerial photos after the fire.
