first of all, do you understand why tomoyo's after was made? Mr. Maeda said he wrote tomoyo's after story because he could not write all of tomoyo's story in school day, besides, he liked tomoyo personally. Maeda is writer who likes to kill someone on his scenarios to describe "life", but other writers on KEY are not such people. the scenarios basically goes to good ending, but for nagisa and tomoyo, nagisa often got sick and tomoyo got tomoya's accident on her after. that's it.

to tell the truth, Mr.Maeda is main writer of KEY and person who likes to describe porno scenes, so KEY has been known for making some hentai stories for a long time.

He liked tomoyo and made tomoyo after including porno scenes,you know.

and, Maeda is also person who tends to include "death" on his scenarios to describe touched scenes. he also confessed that he tried to describe tomoyo and tomoya's touched life so he killed tomoya at the end of tomoyo after on interview.

actually, hentai scenes were not main parts on each work of KEY, but they tried to express "love" between hero and heroines by including those porno scenes on amazing and touched stories. in other words, KEY's aim for each work is to write touched stories, not write porno scenes.

in fact, clannad did not include any hentai scene because Mr.Maeda said that KEY staff wanted to write touched scenes of life and pure love without any porno scene.

I provided my answer based on interview of Mr.Maeda who is main writer of clannad.

in fact, heroines or pre-heroines' episodes that he wrote included someone's death.

Mr.Suzumoto who wrote Kotomi's episode and was influenced to Maeda also included parents' death on Kotomi's episode. on the contrary, Kyou's episode that was written by Mr.Kai did not include any accident and death till the end.
