Okay, today after Ive restarted my PC I got error - NTLDR is missing, Press ctrl+alt+delete to restart. I never heard about this error before and never had it! Its took less than hour to solve it. So first thing that I did I tried to make backup with my "magic boot cd", of coarse it didn't help and didn't solve the problem. After that I went to my 2nd PC and looked for a solution in google. Found a lot of web-sites, and the famous mistake that I found, that people when see this error trying to reinstall windows, - THAT IS THE WRONG WAY! DON'T DO THIS! I WONT HELP! So next step was - I took my Windows XP Install CD, inserted it into dvd-rom and ran Recovery Console (Hit "R" on choose screen). (Look in video), I typed my admin password, in console typed - "fixboot", then restarted PC and still getting the error, next time I did the same operation but typed "fixmbr" --- no effect. Next time I typed in console:
"copy x:\i386\ntldr c:\"
"copy x:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\"

Dunno why I was sure that it wont help, but it DOES!!! THANK YOU GOD!!!

If it wasnt worked I would type next time - "bootcfg\rebuild"

All this solution I found in google, don't remember exactly what web was that.

P.S. This solution won't work for all instances, 'cuz not sure that the reason for this problem will be like my one! This is only few ways to solve, Its matter what the cause for it!

Thanks, and sorry for my bad engslitch =D

  • What the dousche fuck!?! I could not understand shit!! Dude u could have atleast talked to let me know wt the fk u were doing...

  • lol... fuck off command

  • dude, you should know that shutdown and restart are not DOS commands... I assume you are a Linux geek? Using Linux kernel all the time, and just doing halt (poweroff) and reboot??? Well, buddy, not the same here with us, the guys from Microsoft (I am a Windows 7 official tester, that's why I said "us") see ya

  • go to the directory where NTLDR is in. they should be on C (you have to make sure you can see hidden stuff). copy that ntldr to another place on your pc. When you get "ntldr is missing". you use a live cd for another os. for example ubuntu. you enter the windows system via that live cd. go to the directory where you made your copy and copy it back to where it belongs. you unmount the windows data thingy on your desctop and restart. done. :)

But best idea. not using windows at all *lol*

  • ok but my cd sais it not xp and wont let me boot plz help!!
