1st in a 3 part series. MICROPHONES
My picks,
1 RSM-4 ribbon (listen to my Bach 2nd suite vid)
2 AT4050 (Bach 1st prelude, all early posts)
3 MK-012 pair (no posts yet, GREAT room mics)
Other good sounding BUDGET mics on cello.
Shure KSM27 (colored, full bass, good detail) $300
Fathead Ribbon (warm woody sound) $175
MXL 603 (brilliant highs, great value) $100
I just heard about the Fathead Mic :-) Trying to decide between the Fathead and the Audio Technics AT4040 Condenser Mic for recording my Acoustic Martin HD-28. I heard the AT4040 will pick up every little bit of sound, the subtleties of an acoustic guitar for example. What is your opinion?

Look up the Cascade Fat Head. It's a great little ribbon.
Also look into Rode products. They have a lot of bang for your buck as well.
