This song idea is based on the Greek Myth of Leda and the Swan. In the myth, Zeus comes disguised to the beautiful maiden Leda who is bathing naked in the stream. Zeus approaches her as a beautful swan...She is enraptured by the Swan's beauty and in this guise, he makes love to her and in turn she lays an iridescent blue egg. Contained in the egg are a twin boy and girl (symbolic of the Sun God and the Moon Maiden). The daughter of this mortal, Leda and this God, Zeus is Helen, the most captivatingly beautiful of all the half Gods.
This mythological idea has inspired many a visual artist; just google image search Leda and the Swan. It was also literary inspiration for the Great Irish Poet William Butler Yeats, an alternative spiritualist, himself.
