Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji himself called the Khalsa 'snake'. Please read the Zafarnama by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Also check 'Mahaan Kosh' by Kahan Singh Nabha. A Sikh child is called 'Bhujhangi' (snake-child) in Sikh tradition. The word snake-child is just translation of 'Bhujangi'. There is nothing disrespectful in this. Instead, a Sikh child is honoured when he is called 'Bhujangi'.
Regards.

Please read the 78th Shaer of 'Zafarnama', which read as:
"Chiha Shud Ki Chun Bachgan Kushteh Chaar.
Ki Baki B-Maand Ast Pechida Maar."
(What happened that you have killed four children, the coiled snake still remains).
