@S0undBite In some cases psychiatric drugs are currently the best option we have got, and in some circumstances certainly seem to work... HOWEVER the pill popping psychiatric profession and culture needs to wake up.

Psychiatry a very basic art (loosely it could be classed as a science)... the human mind is the thing we understand least in the universe and yet psychiatrists bullshit others in to thinking they know a lot... education can sometimes inflate someone's ego!

@mikeyo1234 my friend has a very serious condition and is going to be on the drugs for the rest of his life. Sometimes the mind gets too fucked and it's no different to loosing a leg or an arm, you are going to need something to help you get around and have some quality of life, sad but true, if he was not on medication he assures me that he would have died or maybe even killed someone

Psychiatry is a very very basic 'science' at the moment. Psychiatrists have a very limited understanding of the human mind but they never admit this.

If I were to be treated by a psychiatrist I'd trust them more if they admitted that there diagnosis using meds is trial and error and they don't know much about the human mind in regard to mental health.

However I don't trust people with limited knowledge who think they are 'experts'... they are experts at knowing very limited knowledge!

@S0undBite Fair play to your friend... sounds like the meds work. However psychiatry is not too far past witch doctor knowledge... i.e. pump someone with random meds until one works by chance. It's NOT a science... it's an art! We know so little about depression... I've never known ANYONE to be cured of a mental illness EVER.

Yes I've met quite a lot that have learned to manage their condition. We need to admit psychiatry is very limited in its knowledge and stop worshipping psychiatrists.

@SpartacusAnonymous To be fair psychiatry is slightly retarded. Psychiatrists randomly pump people full of legal versions of street drugs, and if one drug doesn't work they then iteratively try another. However that process alone PROVES that it's not a science it's an art.

Now on one hand maybe it's the best we've got at the moment in treating the human mind because it's so complex, but it is crap.

Psychiatry also still uses electric shock which is brutality.

Scientology is evil though.

This is the study required in Australia to become a Psychiatrist.

Complete a medical degree. 1 to 2 years working in general jobs as a junior resident. Begining psychiatric training is then a minimum of 5 years as a Junior trainee.

Scientology training = Turn the sauna tap on ( or off as the case may be I guess it depends on the particular mental illess ). Next hand over obscene amounts of multi vitamins. Once dehydrated with liver failure from too much Niacin get them to do some excercise.
