i play lisa marques' class at highland park elementary two or three times a year. i got an idea for a video and went with it.....
"duet"
it's rainin'
can't ranch today
let's get some chicken
'round kerrville way
i'm kinda glad it rained
besides there's a pretty little girl there
hair the color of grain
she smiled and winked i think
chorus
i can't believe my eyes
there she is at the center table
to me she's a sweet little prize
and you can bet your bottom i'm able
i'm from detroit
my daddy had an rv park there
but it wasn't my choice
now i greet people who work yea
i love what i do
but there's one man i got my eye on
when it's all said and gone through
i hope he comes 'round here again
seventeen years and she's still my best friend
if she hadn't come along i wouldn't be livin'
she saved me we saved each other
this time it's worth a whole lot more
"duet" originally came out on "just july" in 2006. i love the song but i didn't like that recording(of course that's almost always true). when i was putting "be" together i went back to "duet" and wiped my vocal and resang it to match dea's and james and david both dubbed in. i like it more now.....
i picked one word out of each line of the song and came up with twenty-three words. lisa has twenty-one students in her class and i gave each one a word and asked them to draw it twice(two students drew two words). i asked a few to draw my portrait and i liked one so much i decided to use it as a flyer for an upcoming flipnotics gig. kiernan's portrait is at the end of the piece.....
the whole class was awesome.....
as always all liner notes are on my blog: "woode's words" at woodewood.com
thanks bill. this was originally recorded in 2006 with overdubs and remixing in 2008. dea moved out-of-state in 2006. there's more, just read "more info".....
