This is the version of the song from the motion picture soundtrack with Merrell Jackson. In many ways I find it to be a perfect song for Thanksgiving which is why I chose not just to share this but also carry out it's message.

Though I realize we may not all live in the United States, I do wish those who celebrate with me tomorrow a Happy Thanksgiving and to everyone God bless us all as we enter the holiday season.

  • This takes me back...Merrell Jacksons version is the best by far

  • @gruyere08 I agree!

  • Thanks for sharing this with us!

  • @KayRawburtsun You're Welcome

  • Nice--thanks for remembering. It was 20 years ago today he passed on. God bless him!

  • @xmcdonnell Right, I posted this video for Thanksgiving day but that is true that Merrill who's singing did indeed die two decades ago. It's so sad how four of the cast members in the movie had such short lives.

  • Perfect for Thanksgiving!I had the same sentiment this very year...my kids said to me, "But ma, that movie is for Easter!"...hahah...

  • LOVE this song - thanks for posting.

  • I had this at my wedding during Communion...Still gives me the chills, which is why I used it!

  • Godspell, a truly classic rock opera!

  • I completely love this song. I've heard many beautiful versions of it. I think Lamar Alford from the Original Broadway Cast is my favorite. Are you familiar with it? Thank you for posting. It's cute how you videoed the record playing!

  • It's the original where he solos at 2:20. In some versions, they take this part out (or turn the volume way down) and I have no idea why! So this is precious, thanks. (Hi X!)
