Jewell Meadows Wildlife Area is managed to provide winter habitat and supplemental feeding for Roosevelt elk. Open pastures border a state highway, offering excellent viewing of up to 200 elk during winter and spring. Other wildlife species also are abundant. The main meadow is a year-round refuge with no hunting or public access. The wildlife area has two paved parking areas, four viewing areas and interpretive signing.

  • when i was a kid a family friend owned this entire area and it was a slaughter ground. as the elk destryed his fields.

  • On Hwy. 202 you really need to be careful because deer AND elk both like to crosss the road at inopportune times.

  • Oh my, Myself and my friend, Tim Schwanke, have walked that entire valley when we wee kids. 10 miles outside of Fishhawk Lake, and you know when real mountain boys are living.

  • I'm going to have to start planning a road trip!

    Another 5 star video.
