On Sunday, October 18, 2009, at 3:05 a.m., police responded to a call for a pedestrian struck
in the Adelaide Street East/Victoria Street area.
It is reported that:

− an altercation occurred between the occupants of a black SUV and a 27−year−old man,
− during the altercation, the victim was assaulted and knocked down to the ground,
− after the occupants returned to their vehicle, the driver ran over the victim,
− the vehicle fled eastbound on Adelaide Street East.

During the early stages of this investigation, there was a possibility that the homicide may
have been motivated by hate.

To date, investigators have explored that possibility and do not have any evidence to corroborate that concern. However, the investigation into this case
continues and any information that is brought forward will be considered thoroughly.

Police should also look into the headlights as they look like after market HID conversion or is it a high end vehicle like Lincoln Aviator which is based on same platform as Ford Explorer.

To me, it looks like a 96-98 jeep grand cherokee. I had one, i'd recognize it anywhere.

Looks a lot like a '98 Dodge Durango. I'm sure with few wheelbase measurements etc. this is a done deal. There can't be too many '98s around... just a matter of time. I agree with orphangordie, it may be a good time to get a lawyer...

I have posted all the security videos as well, with location information for each camera.

A candlelight vigil is scheduled for Christopher Skinner this Sunday Oct 25, 8pm at Church and Wellesley.

There are concerns that this incident has some characteristics of a "Gay Bashing".

I viewed this and the new video numerous times and it is my opinion that the suspect vehicle is a Ford Explorer . The square shape of the tail lights is especially telling. Also in viewing the new video I notice that AFTER the suspect vehicle the following vehicles in this order 1) an unidentified sedan 2) what appears to be a blue with white stripe MAPLE LEAF CAB (not BECK) 3) an unidentified vehicle 4) a jeep 5) and finally a BECK cab - hope this helps in the investigation
