I have never seen a railfan pace Amtrak before! Before the Amtrak Texas Eagle trains go back on their own route tomorrow (11-23-2010) I thought I end it with a pace of her side by side at track speed! It was a bit of a task! It can be done though. (Bows head) I ran along side of him for quiet a bit and a friendly crew was onboard as well! Engineer waved and looked several times. We started off in Hillsboro IL and ended up in Witt IL. Amtrak P42DC 11 did the honor's. Outbound MCHAS was called so they will most likely meet at Villa grove. Bound to Chicago! Mission accomplished on a day off work!

  • Nice video! How fast were you driving through Irving and Witt?

  • @mbecker130 Oh...probably faster then I should of been going! LOL! I'd say 60-65mph!

  • WHEN WAS THIS.

I was coming home from Chadwick today, and passed Staunton about 11:30 AM.

  • @Hiei2k7 Hi, Ben! This was taken about 9:30A.M. Give me a 'holler when your in Staunton. I'd come out and do some fanning with ya!

what I need to do next time i'm in IL is take a whole bunch of time off and save some money and do 3 days from Chadwick to Rochelle to Chillicothe to Edelstein, to Mazon IL (70 MPH+ trackspeed!!!) and back down to Staunton...

Hope I got a lot of HD space :)

  • holy shit! thats fast Kevin-nator! lolz

  • You live in Staunton? Drop by Henry's Rabbit Ranch and say hi to Rich for me. I'm also a Route 66 roadie with my '64 Chevy. Great catch pacing the Texas Eagle. The Eagle passes by my house in Austin, TX.
