The Academy screwed over this movie. I understand if you didn't like the movie, but give credit to the amazing actresses. They all deserved Best Actress noms.

Finally a movie centered around Black Women. They need their spotlight too. Doesn't bother me if any color of men were degraded in this film. So many movies degrade women. Not many movies that's not ghetto has black women.

ahh this movie was a discrace. always quick to try to blame black men for your problems instead of the real oppressors. black men havent been oppressing black women for 400 years.

People, T Perry isnt making black men looking like anything. This movie is based on an award winning play. These are not HIS characters (although slightly changed from the play) but this was a work already done, so please dont blame him if it negative, depressing or anything else. I read this play (book) in the 7th grade. I remember the school library pulled it off the shelf due to its heavy adult content and I'm 36 now. Please know this is the original work of Ntozake Shange...a playwrite

It's more about gender and color. Tyler Perry doesn't like black men and therefore most of the men in this were assholes like all his other films and even Tim story made fun of Perry's films in Think Like A Man. Now that was a truthful positive Black film. Tyler Perry only did good in this one because it's an adaption but Tim Story knows how to write a true film without putting Light skin Black men on a pedestal or sassy mammies and the film was good without trying to be so "Black".
