We started immediately after the Winter Collection, we had a concept meeting to discuss general direction... and it's been a gradual process.
Usually when we start out in a collection, I like to reference something that I'd never referenced before that gives me a way of thinking and a way of exploring themes in the collection wich maybe I haven't explored.
Heritage is something that is very inspiring, however I'm not a big fan of copying or imitating the past. It's about putting your personal stamp on things.

When you have a foundation, especially the sartorial foundation of Ermenegildo Zegna with is rich both in textiles and manufacturing, it's easy reference especially when you're doing menswear, but obviously you look at it as a base and it's important to work out it from that making it relevant .. you know.. the fashion show is a medium to ignite the press and to create attention to the collection... but at the same time, you know.. you have to make sure that the collection is also desirable, and for me the desirability comes through making an image or creating an image for a man that is also understandable.
