Do you know why numbers look like they do? Someone, at some point in time,
had to create their shapes and meaning.

Watch this short presentation and then you will know how Arabic

numbers were originally created a very long time ago and what logic the

people that created them used to determine their shapes. It is really

very simple and quite creative.

  • Intriguing yet false. Take a look at the actual original forms - almost no angles to speak of. Search wikipedia for "Arabic numerals". If only things were really this simple...

  • Eh, forget what I said. As interesting as this video is a little research shows that it is actually BS.

  • Thanks for sharing interesting

  • The 7 and 9 seem odd to me... no pun intended.

  • The zero "0" has no angles.

  • There are angles or They are angles? Aren't typos a b***h?

  • The digits 7 and 9 don't work for me. I've never seen a 7 written with a small horizontal line at its base, and I've never seen a nine written with a bottom that curls up.

  • Simple and profound!

  • Very cool!
