You should try a different turntable, those ION ones come with a ceramic cartridge and I believe a magnetic one in your case would be able to pick up more of the "data" recorded onto those disks

You're getting much better sound now than you did with earlier versions. Keep RIAA curve in mind. In order to be pressed without skipping or groove override records were cut with the bass down to I believe -16 or -24 db and the highs were boosted very high. When you play a record back your amp is doing a reverse of this. Try cutting the record with the bass lower and the treble higher and you might get a more natural playback.

@MrPJSoul Yea, I do try to equalize audio to close to the RIAA. I think my problem is that I have always used weak speakers so when I record, it has a hard time pushing out such high tones in conjunction with the resistance of the cd's surface. because of that, I have to keep a little bit of the bass and equalize the song according to how much bass is present in any given track. Ive never tried buying a top notch treble speaker before for this kind of thing tho, but maybe I should.

I don't know if you've heard of it but there's a program called Acid Pro. It has one of the best digital equalizers built into it. Maybe you can use something like that to send the highs into the stratosphere to compensate for the weak speakers. You're doing a great job. I'm amazed

hey man i would like to thank you so much for this. you're such a genius! i really cant wait for the other parts of the tutorial to be out. what is the maximum length of a track can you cut into a cdrecord? and i was curious if i were to replace the cd with a blank seven inch vinyl instead will i be able to cut at least a good seven minutes or so on both sides? or would that be impossible seeing how the needle is not strong enough to actually cut the vinyl.

@twxr thank you! lol the max is usually around 2min or less (with a steady hand). I've tried making cuts on vinyl record near the center where its blank, and it just sounded like static. I think your right that the little needle cant handle such a hard surface. bluray disks are the same way except they dont even scratch! lol imagine that
