This song was inspired by one of the most beautiful...and tall...totem poles...I've ever seen...carved by
Kwagiult master carver...Mungo Martin. I couldn't believe my good fortune when I first arrived in
Vancouver...in finding it...near the water...in my Kitsilano neighbourhood. It was all part of the magic
I experienced when I first arrived on the West Coast...and still experience...in many ways.

  • I meant...a translation of the first verse of this song.

  • This song...is featured...in a text book...written by Peter R.

Gerber and Georges Ammann...for use in schools in

Switzerland. Their German translation of "Der Totempfahl von Kitsilano" is as follows:" Ich betrachte dich im abendlichen Sonnenlicht, Du ragst hinauf, wo die Adler fliegen. Mungo, Deine Magie reckt sich noch aufrecht In den Stadthimmel, hinauf in den Stadthimmel".

  • Hello, This is another difficult one to comment about. It feels like a prayer...holy. It is beautiful. Blessings your way.
