@marencebre They did not say he was Croatian - he was born in what today is Croatia (in Lika), but back then it was the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, and Croatia did not exist yet. And as his father was an Orthodox priest, I guess we can all assume he was an ethnic Serb. Having said that - I couldn't care less. I respect the man for what he gave to the whole world he left behind. He was possibly the most important inventor EVER.

It's completely beyond the point whether he was Croatian or Serbian because he did all his work and got all the money and support he needed for his work in America - which makes him a true American scientist. In fact, he went to America because Europeans were completely deaf and blind towards his ideas. Had he stayed in either Croatia or Serbia he would have never achieved what he achieved and we would have never heard of him. And no, I am not American myself. Just being objective.

@Kostly Little boy, Tesla and the others scientists were so ahead compared to Marconi that none in the world (included Tesla the loser) was able to reproduce the results obtained by Marconi for several years. All the governements ar5ound the world praied Marconi's in order to get his radio system. None gave a shit about Tesla. Marconi's system was completely original and got nothing to share with the Tesla one (where is?). Tesla was just a useless loser only capable to be envious and jealous.

it was not a failure, it was J.P. Morgan pulling the funding, thats it. Morgan said if he cannot put a meter on it, he didn't want it. Tesla should have kept his portion of profits to fund this, but he gave up his share of the money to G.E. because it might have made them go broke. poor Tesla, he was right, but our capitalist system killed his ideas. money over the betterment of man, sound familuar? sad

@lozoft9 Marconi didn't steal anything from anyone. Tesla was shamed by the 21 years old italian boy when Marconi sent the first long distance radio transmission in 1895. Tesla never design or built a working radio system. Marconi did it. Marconi is the true forgotten genius. Tesla was just capable of stealing idea from others as it happened with Galileo Ferraris and the induction motor.
