It's a timeless arguement; who was better Waters or Gilmour, Bruce or Wallace, Salt or Pepper. The polarised debate is fun but pointless. Bothe these guys created some of the best comedy ever. The performances and production were great true. It was all greater than the sum of it's parts due to the incredible chemistry between them all. After Grant left the show became non essential viewing for me. But I'm sure the same could be said if Grant had stayed and Naylor had left.

naylor is a genius: tikka to ride, stoke me a clipper, ouroboros, back to earth part 3. people are too miserable and critical. also, rob grant will never make anything as good as red dwarf. and that's not a bad thing: some people dont have a red dwarf equivalent at all.

Rob and Doug WROTE 'Red Dwarf'...but for ME, it's the ACTORS playing their ROLES that made the show so great, so memorable...Lister, Kryten, Rimmer, Cat...fantastic characters brought to life by amazing, funny, TALENTED people. I think ALL 8 series were amazingly entertaining, (yes 7 & 8 too!) each series unique and funny in their OWN ways...thanks, R&D...you guys are smeggin' FANTASTIC.
