Managed to "fix" the glow plug timer on my 94 Opel Vectra. And it appears that it is not just only the head-gasket thats causing trouble. It seems that there something with the valves, by something called "Shims" (I know how to replace them).

But I will continue to start the engine regulary (every two months or so), to recharge the battery and make sure the engine does not "catch a cold".

About 0 degrees ( C ) at the cold-start in the end

A bit hard start there...

Miss-spelled something in the video. Just so you know that I know!

  • How can it be 3 months later when your millage never changed

  • @danny27404 Car was not in use, we just had it sitting around. If I remember correctly the counter in the speedo didnt work, - we never knew the real mileage of the car.

  • hi My glow plug light lit up from time to time when running it turned out to be the cap. 1uf 50v (C3) inside the timer relay

    thanks for a fine video

  • Thank you for the tips, I'll probalby check it out when i start the car next time. Right now it's buried underneath 5ft of snow !!

  • @Da9eI Oh rite well i have added this to my vectra c and it does good getting those glow plugs red hot at -20 cheers for the upload!!

  • LOVE that issizu engine.

  • You can check if it stays 5v over the cap its probarly ok if its less its most likly damaged (1.1v on my cap before the new cap)

  • Actualy I have'nt got any time to do anything to it! (I feel sorry for it) Its been a while since I last drove it, but I still start it every month or so to recharge the battery and heat up the engine. I have just got myself a new (old) car, but somethings wrong with it too, but it is still drivable... Probably put a video of it too soon.

  • ah i see. cheers for telling me that. how many miles has ur vectra got on it now? have you had the headgasket fixed?

  • There was actually a Chevrolet Vectra too !!!
