Woman killed in rollover accident

PITTSBURG —
Late Thursday night, a woman was killed in an accident on Kansas Highway 126.
Shortly after 10 p.m., emergency crews responded to K-126 for a rollover accident. Deputies found a car on its side, with the driver trapped inside. When the EMS services arrived, it was determined that the driver, Amanda Lane, 25, From Joplin, Mo. Living and going to school in Pittsburg, was dead.
Witnesses behind the car said it was swerving in its lane, then went off the roadway on the south side. The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to go into the north ditch, striking a private drive culvert, going airborne and ending up on the passenger side.
The Crawford County coroner has ordered the body be sent for autopsy. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

• A 25-year-old woman from Pittsburg, Kan., died at the scene of a single-vehicle accident at 10:12 p.m. Thursday on Kansas Highway 126, a quarter-mile east of 180th Street, according to the Crawford County Sheriff's Department.

Amanda R. Lane died at the scene of the accident, the Sheriff's Department said. The Crawford County coroner has ordered an autopsy in the investigation of the accident.

Lane was driving a car that witnesses told investigators was swerving on the highway before running off the road on the south side and crossing over to the north ditch, striking a culvert and becoming airborne. The vehicle came to rest on its passenger side in the ditch, the Sheriff's Department said.
