camera phone video of floods in project 2, quezon city brought about by storm ketsana / ondoy in metro manila, philippines last september 26, 2009.
another classic example of a devastation due to extreme weather conditions brought about by the global climate change. based on the pagasa(Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration) data, the storm had a 410mm rate of precipitation in less than 12 hours which is more than what hurricane katrina unleashed in new orleans. that figure is also more than the average amount of rainfall the philippine gets in a month which is around 350mm per month. imagine the amount of rainfall for one month unleashed in just less than 12 hours, this is the harsh reality, climate change isn't going to happen soon, it is already happening NOW and the only way we can deal with this is that we should also act NOW.
good thing, filipinos are as resilient as the bamboo, we may get bent by adversities but we will never be broken. i just hope now we learn to clean up our ways and take care of our environment more.
