@davomrmac Yeah, I know, I meant to post this comment on your review of the Harddrive Dock Pro. But since you gave that a good review I'm buying the Quattro version of it.. :)

Thank you for the review.

What hard drive does this unit contain inside ?

@elvin2130 Thanks for your comment. Network connectivity would be nice, but this offers slower transfer and is really for someone who ant a central rather than local storage location.
USB 3.0 there are hard drives coming out with this, so it will feature no doubt more in the future.
Two of the FireWire connections are for direct to computer, the third is for daisy chaining extra hard drives.

Thanks for a great review. How does this compare to the Freecom 35296 Hard Drive Dock Quattro? Do you think the aforementioned is just as good? It's 20 quid or so more expensive. Btw - I'm subscribing..! :)

@Nocturne06 The drive dock quattro is a different product for using bare drives. It should perform well though.

Did you purchase this or get it from the manufacturer for review? If you purchased, why this unit vs. other brands?

@DerekZimmer This was a review unit. However, if I was selecting a hard drive it would have been on my consideration list. After testing the hard drive for the review, if I was buying one now it would definitely get my purchase.

I am not to sure on the reliability of these drives. I sell the portable 2.5 freecoms at my work and we get a fair amount back.
Usually problem, not recognizing the HDD with the comp.
However that is usually due to usb powered devices.

@productfeedback USB is a strange kettle of fish sometimes. Often it is too much power draw needed than for example the laptop can supply that causes problems, rather than the drive itself.
