J.J. Abram's Artists were charged with giving the new Star Trek movie's Enterprise a modern, more sleek look. What they ended up doing was betraying every fan out there with a hideous positioning of the sections of the ship. I went ahead and changed it, it took a few minutes, but it's still an improvement =)

To TMP Soundtrack (R.I.P Jerry Goldsmith) I've put some 'real' starships in the rest of the video. Enjoy, and try passing the word to JJ that he accepted one of the worst re-designs possible.

  • I cant wait to see the alternate version of the excelisor

  • the intrepid class?

  • @KenoshiAkai Agreed! :D I especially like the TMP Enterprise!

  • I think what you've done is turn a beautiful ship into an grotesque thing of hideous proportions. All you 'real' trekkies are shunning your own loved franchise.Saying 'no this isn't right' and 'the new ship should be called a starsh*t'. You did it to Enterprise and now your doing it to JJ Abrams fantastic creation. Why do you have to be oh so pompous and tell the world what you think Star Trek should be? I think Star Trek should be mixed with Firefly and Tron. OK? Be thankful you got a Trek!

  • @armysoldierist Still disagree on the D, but you make a good case for it. I just really dislike the whole Next Generation aesthetic in general. My favorite Enterprise is still the refit from the Motion Picture. It took all of the eye pleasing lines of the 1960s version and streamlined them, added some grills and fins to the nacelles, and lavished detail on the hull while not overdoing it. Just enough windows, but not too many, and the blue glow on the deflector dish is a beautiful touch.

  • @KenoshiAkai I disagree about the D. The lines were perfectly blended, the ship was elegant, graceful, the warp nacelles glowed beautifully, the deflector....well, ill give you that one. But still, the neck flowed beautifully, the pylons connecting to the nacelles were blended perfect, the saucer WAS NOT disproportionately large, it was perfect right down to the bridge. The whole ship was just magnificient. But if you don't think it was, why don't you tell me what you thought was.

  • @armysoldierist The saucer section was disproportionately large, and the nacelles much too small. It looked poorly balanced. The secondary hull was squashed. The skinny vertical windows are ugly. The clashing angular patterns of its hull plating and escape pods looked much too busy. The combination of red and blue glow on the nacelles clashed. The eye-shaped deflector dish was hideous. Not even getting into the beige and yellow interiors. The D was a gigantic eyesore.

  • @MagnusPrime01 What looks futuristic to one generation looks pretty dated to another, since what we perceive as futuristic is influenced by the technology we have today. In a 21st century era where we have iPods and touch screen technology a ship designed in the 1960s doesn't look quite so sleek.

  • i heard somewhere that the enterprise in the star trek movie is a reference to the refit version in the picard era

  • I do prefer the saucer and connecting section moved forward, but the nacelles, pylons, and the upsweep of the engineering hull are all worse frankly. I thought that they did a good job with the redesign. The positioning of the saucer was the only thing that bothered me. And if recall original constitution, before the refit, had its "neck" slightly back too. All of the ship designs that have been done over the years have had at least one thing wrong with them. I commend them for taking a big risk
