First Mountain Solo Oatman Mountain AZ 3-22-11

This is my First Mountain Solo. I've got my H2 from Greg DeWolf @ Windsports Hang Gliding Sylmar, CA last October. I'm flying my new Wills Wing falcon-3 195 with a Tracer harness Quantum QS 440 Reserve Parachute and Charly Air Control Helmet. I'm lucky to have two H4 mentors Lyle Anderson and Stan Roberts both have been flying +30 plus years. Oatman Mountain is about 1000 feet high ... Besides all the time on dockweiler beach i've been doing sled rides off a 200' ridge near my home in Parker AZ. I can't wait to start soaring.

Congratulations! I've been aerotowing out here in Chicago all summer, but will be in AZ this winter for 3 months. I'm hoping to get a chance to do some footlaunching /mountain soloing there!

Great job. I too had my first Mt flight off Oatman but on the North side in a UP Condor back in the 80s. My first soaring flight was South side for 17 minutes in the same glider. I went on to have a couple hundred flights there. My longest was 3.5 hours off the north side. Also had a fun flight off the South side where I flew to Gila Bend and landed in the McDonald's parking lot. Good times. I love Oatman Mt.
