Made in 1932, the first and - arguably - most atmospherically effective of all zombie films. Suitably eerie cinematography by Arthur Martinelli and makeup by Jack Pierce (creator of Universal's Frankenstein monster and the Wolf Man) set the mood perfectly for a genre-defining classic.
Two sequels followed: 'Revolt of the Zombies' (1936) and 'King of the Zombies' (1941).
