I wasn't saying that oil rigs should not exist. I was only saying that we should NOT invest more money, time and effort into anymore than we have now. We are actually drilling more wells now then we were during the Bush years.
Just as we "advanced" from hunters/gatherers, than an agricultural society, than from using Whale oil, riding horse and buggies, it is only a "natural progression" to "wean" ourselves OFF fossil fuels and MOVE INTO THE 21st century!!

borisgaydos asks on my profile "Do you have a better idea?"
Better ideas:
1) Record the program onto a DVD.
2) DVR the program and download the video from the DVR to your computer.
3) Stream the program via your computer
4) Stream the program via your phone and upload to your computer.
5) Instead of posting poor quality video to Youtube and rapving like a mental about Youtube helping the masses learn about rogue waves, go have a sandwich and a nap.
6) Squeeze one out. Nonverbally, this time.

I absolutely hate it when some loser sits in front of his tv and records it with his camcorder...

I've read about 3 rigs so far which sank because of portholes being smashed.

I boogy-board bigger waves than this.

The rogue waves must be caught and punished!

500' high, 500mph? 152.4m high, 223.52mps. 34,746 tonnes of salt water per second per metre of coastline. 868 GigaWatts per metre of coastline. Roughly one Hiroshima bomb per 10 metres of coast per second.
Highest floor of your building, my ____. Boeing 737 at 500mph is about 1 GJ. 900 times that per metre of coast per second? Be west of the Catskill range.

Surfers all over the world drooled on this one.
Scholars who record fleeting images, seen perhaps by thousands, and publish them for the millions of mankind in perpetuity, are intellectual heroes much as the scholars who discovered the Dead Sea Scrolls or dug up the Art of War recorded on bamboo, and preserved them for mankind.
