www.17harleystreet.co.uk - Iodine is an essential ingredient of the hormones produced in the thyroid gland. Iodine is vital to mammals in general and humans in particular. It is usually found in sea water in the form of Iodide, which is transformed into elemental iodine by the action of the sun.
2 billion people worldwide have insufficient Iodine intake certainly grabs Dr. Cooper's attention. Add to that, most experts agree that worldwide Iodine Deficiency Disorder is the leading cause of preventable mental retardation.
You cannot ingest too much the body retains what it needs and excretes the rest. Go on the internet and buy Iodoral it is 12.5 mg, which is 5mg Iodine and 7.5mg Potassium Iodide, you need this combination because different tissues in the body use Iodide and Iodine. Do not eat bread and do not drink tap water because they contain Bromide, Fluoride and Chlorine which push Iodine out of the body because they are toxic metals. Look on here for Dr Brownstein it will tell you what you need to know.

@TBO123 "what are the effects of ingesting too much" - yeah that is what I would like to know. It is so so hard to get any sort of information in layman terms especially in the UK where one can't just go to the health shop and buy it about from as part of a supplement containing about 150mcg which is nothing.

@ 4.23 it is possible to buy iodinised salt in Lidl (the German supermarket) don't think its very strong though. I'm going to try my avian iodine I suppose if its safe for finches it's safe for me. I'm a vegan so apart from what I get from my vit pills 150mcg per day I am very low. Done a skin test the tincture disappeared in about 10mins :-)

sorry, 17 Harlet St... but if the labs that you use do not regularly perform tests for iodine deficiency, who does? Organizations that claim that we have iodine deficiencies must have standard practices to test for iodine deficiency unless they are simply following iodine deficiency related diseases around? What can a person do to ingest the right amount of iodine? and... most importantly, what are the effects of ingesting too much iodine?
