Jr Colonials 2008

2008 Parades, musters, and practices. The Junior Colonials fife and drum corps is based in Westbrook, CT and draws young musicians from the Connecticut shoreline.

The music is from Joshua Dukes' album "The Long Trip Home", which has gotten me through many long trips home. Josh is 'one of us'... a musician and drum major in The Old Guard, and obviously an enormously talented fellow with equally talented friends. If you don't have his CD yet, make haste... and get a couple extras to pass around!

Junior Colonials is the name of the corps, but the corps does not attempt to represent any particular era. Like most fife & drum corps (though not all), they play music from across centuries and continents, including some written relatively recently.

Field Musicians during this time wore the opposite colored uniforms of the soldiers. So that the commander could see them on the battlefield to give out orders.

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. First off, they're wearing British Red, second, they have American flags, third, they're playing British fife & drum music, and finally, they're in Conneticut. I thought all the Loyalists went to Canada,
