First Belgian Seaking retired

on the 17th of december 2008, the Belgian Armed Forces officially retired the first of 5 Seaking Mk.48 helicopters.

the Seaking with serial RS01, started dutie from april 1976 and was the first seakingto be delivered to Belium. now almost 33 years later, she is now offically withdrawn from service.

at the moment this leaves Belgium with only 2 airworthy seakings (RS04 & RS05) 1 seaking is now grounded after technical problems (RS03) and 1 is currently unservicable and used for spares (RS02) but will be returned to service soon.

the seakings will be fully withdrawn from service as of 2011, when the first of 10 NH90 will be delivered to koksijde Air Base.

@McTheTrue misschien binnen een 3tal jaar, zolang er geen NH90's zijn blijven de 4 resterende seakings dienst doen. 1 zal er waarschijnlijk op koksijde blijven als gate-guard, wat er zal gebeuren met de andere 3 weet ik niet, mss worden ze openbaar verkocht? maar dat zal wellicht voor na 2013 zijn.

Het blijven mooie dingen..

Ben zelf Nederlander en op de Open Dag van De luchtmacht waren ze altijd graag te gast.
