Walk with me as I tell you my story of my struggle with Crohn's Colitis...Ultimately the decision I made to undergo a Hand-Assisted Laproscopic Total Proctocolectomy with a Temporary Loop Ileostomy and an Ileo-J-Pouch... I am 18 years old but feel as though I lived a lifetime. Thanks for taking the time to watch my vid!

  • Do you think your j-pouch could handle intense excercise? I have ulcerative colitis but love bodybuilding, weight-lifting, martial-arts, etc. My biggest fear is that the survey would prevent me from doing those things.

  • @ugabandit7 I don't know if a jpouch could handle intense exercise, you may want to check with your doctor, because I don't do a whole lot of exercise. I just do minimal cardio. I used to dance, a long time ago, but I have stopped doing that. However, I do believe once you have your jpouch, you should be able to go back to your own routine, weightlifting might be questionable. But check with your doctor. Also stay hydrated even more if you are working out so much.

  • Thank you thank you; I have had severe ulcerative colitis for a couple of years. Saw the surgeon yesterday and I am scheduled for Feb. 15, 2010. This is the first time I have watched a video of anyone regarding this surgery and what to expect. Thank you for putting yourself out there. I am extremely scared of the entire process - but watching you gave me hope. Thanks!!!!

  • @Muddlesbella thanks so much for the comment! ( i sent you a message in your inbox! ) Take care!

  • the actual term for my ostomy is a Laproscopic Total Proctocolectomy and i was told how dangerous a reversal can be, bare in mind i live in ireland where surgeons trained specifically for this matter are few and far between. i would really like a rversal, i was wondering if you could maybe message me some advice? I'd really appreciate it

  • nadia you are an inspiration, you and dennis both putting yourselves out there is fantastic, i have a permanent loop ileostomy and your story is amazingly similar to mine..keep up the fantastic work

  • post wwII US diseasecare system. first antibiotics marketed in 1942. mass chemicals in foods same time. jees, lets cut out everyones intestines so they can poop in a bag anytime of day w/o being interrupted! ? doctors really aren't any different than 100 years ago; cast bones, stitch cuts, cut out organs... +1 now, use crazy patented drugs to mask symptoms. hmm, tons of drug$ for the rest of your life. no1 knows better than u, whats wrong with u, jus pay attention. pathogens & chemicals.
