What was the name of that band again?! From 1987 to 1989, John Berndt, Neil Feather, John Sheehan, & I (tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE) had an improvising group called "Something that Dissolved the Shadow of Something that was next to Something that Burned Twice, Once". Or was it "Something that dissolved the Shadow of Something that was next to Something that Burned Twice"? That was the way we were listed on our only audio publication - the tape release entitled "November 21 '87EV to April 16 '89EV (as edited by tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE)". Then again, on the tape release entitled "November 21 '87EV to April 16 '89EV (as edited by John Berndt)" we were called "The Thing which Dissolves the Shadow of Something which was once close to Something that Once Burned Twice". &, yet, on the poster that advertised the gig that this movie is from we were called "Something that Dissolves the Shadow of Something Which Was Once Close to Something that Once Burned Twice" but in the actual movie itself we're called Something That Dissolves the Shadow of Something That was Next to Something That Combusted Once. Twice. One might get the impression that this particular group had a strange sense of humor.. or were pranksters.. or confused.. or SOMETHING THAT DISSOLVED THE SHADOW.. At any rate, in our 2&1/2 yrs of existence we only performed publicly twice & this movie is from our 2nd & last gig at Brad Hwang's wonderful underground warehouse club in BalTimOre: DisPlace. It took Neil & myself 20 hrs to set up our equipment. John Berndt put in about 5 to 7 hrs. John Sheehan had everyone else set up his equipment, showed up right around starting time, & didn't cooperate w/ the rest of us. Then we played for about 4 hrs. This is hereby reduced to 16:48 & broken into 2 parts: Something That Dissolves the Shadow of Something That was Next to Something That Combusted Once. Twice & ":November 4th 1989EV Dis Place BAL TIM ORE". I'm sure you've heard before that people used to be shorter. Well, 20 yrs ago, reality in general was alot more wiggly - as this document attests. Joanne Bernititus provided the moving camera & Austin Newsome provided the one on the tripod.
