Did they think he was going to rape his classmates and infect them? Yes, this was early, but I was in elementary school in the mid-80's and I distinctly remember them teaching us about AIDS. They taught us how it is transmitted both so we could protect ourselves and so we would know it was okay to have a friend with AIDS.
