probably the most realistic portrayal of being trashed

I saw Mean Streets for the very first time last week and while the whole film shows Scorsese's great emerging talent as a fledgling director, this one scene showcases his genius. After watching it I was so impressed that I had to back up the DVD to watch it again, and then once more for a third time. I mean the damn thing was released in '73 and even by the standards of technical proficiency in films today, this piece of work is just dazzling.

Ive seen this same shot/effect in "Requiem for a dream" (2002) and in "Lock, stock and two smoking barrels" (1998) but this one was the first Ive ever seen and it is also the best. SCORSESE IS A DIRECTING GOD..

can someone please tell me the name of the artist or band that sings this track?

I think the reason this scene is so mesmorizingly beautiful is because it is a unique filming technique used here (perhaps also the background music). It is so different. "Mean Streets" is a great film that gave a Scorsese a breakthrough in the film industry.
