  • Yes, the lisp will become less noticeable to you as you continue to use the trays. It's just your mouth making natural adjustments.

  • I'm getting Invisalign soon. I go to my orthodontist on the tenth to get impressions done and then a month or so from then I get my first set of aligners. I've asked my friends who've gotten impressions of their teeth done for braces what it's like and they pretty much say it's disgusting and makes you gag, obviously something I'm not looking forward to.

What is it like getting impressions done?

  • LOL. It's not the most COMFORTABLE feeling in the world and the whole gagging part just depends on how good you gag reflexes are and the size of your mouth. Just to give some perspective- Imagine a sports mouthpiece filled with bubble gum consistency clay, that when you bite on it it hardens to a more wax consistency. Yes it's uncomfortable but something you'll live through I PROMISE. ;) Good luck!.

  • Hey, I'm planning on getting invisalign to correct my overcrowded teeth. A couple of things that I am worried about-- I JUST got my wisdom teeth extracted. (all 4 about 7 days ago) How was the initial visit when you were fitted for the trays? Do you think it will be painful for my currently sore gums (from the extraction)

what was the procedure like to get fitted for the trays?

  • Yea I'm not sure that's the wisest of ideas....I would definitely wait for the soreness to subside. Getting fitted for the trays is alot like being fitted for a athletic mouthpiece and that requires getting a tight fitting mold made of your teeth. The material used to make the mold id much like gum/play-doh placed on your teeth just below the gum line and will certainly tug on your teeth when getting them taken off. Otherwise the procedure is completely painless and highly recommended.

  • What do you do when going out drinking beers? Is it possble with the invisalign on or do you have to take it off? I mean that would be pready annoying. Or is it maybe possible not to wear it for maybe 7 hours going out. I only go out and drink a lot of beers maybe once every 14 days. Thanks.

  • Sorry, i had to chuckle a bit.... I do drink but rarely ever 6 hours in a row!!! LOL. But yes when I do drink I drink lighter drinks with them on... no red wines and no dark sodas just as a general rule of thumb. If I'm munchin' on some appetizers I'll excuse myself go to the restroom and pop 'em off for a few hours. Longer than three hours and your teeth will be sore when you put 'em back in.
