I remember seeing this movie as a child (about 25 years ago), and falling in love with the score. It is one of the inspirations that led me to study music. And now, hundreds of film scores later, I still say this has to be the single most exquisite and haunting soundtrack I've ever heard. I have been humming this theme my entire life.

Everyone, read the book. It was so much better and the movie can't even hold a candle to the book. Many scenes, names, and dates were taken out for the movie and the children were actually in the attic for more then 3 years. Also, they faced more cruelty, like being whipped, starved, and Cathy was even drugged by the Grandmother who tarred her hair. Read the books, to expirence something VERY chilling and haunting

about twenty years ago, it was a weekend, I was cleaning my apartment- I put the tv on, found what looked like a horror movie, and left the room to get busy- suddenly, this gorgeous melody filled the room, the hair on the back of my neck stood up- just what was I watching? it was "Flowers in the Attic" with what has to be one of the most beautiful scores ever - it has stayed in my head all these years and I found it on Youtube!

This is, without question, one of the most haunting, uniquely beautiful and intoxicating film scores ever written - this coming form someone who listens to film scores with near exclusivity and owns several thousand. Young really penned his emotional masterpiece here. Few other scores create *quite* the same sense of nostalgic longing and pathos-rich anguish as does this score. A brilliant, depressing masterpiece.

I love this picture!!
I want this picture so badly! Just one BIG wall covered with it facing a window to where the light can shine in on it as if to reveal hidden truths. I JUST LOVE IT
it brings up so many vivid thoughts pared with this song of such sad beauty that if I allow myself to sit with pen in hand on replay I could write a whole book!
Thank you so very much!
